A Message From Our Founder

As a brand & marketing consultant, I’ve assisted many small businesses, entrepreneurs and lifestyle brands with developing their voice and message within their respective industries. Having 15 years of experience in Sales & Marketing, with 6 years of consulting projects that helped other passionate individuals, I continuously felt like there was a market that could not only use my help, but one that I had an extreme passion for.

What many don’t know about me is that I played the piano on and off since I was 10 years old. I started my undergraduate studies at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI as a Music Business major. In the 90s and early 2000s, when the music we heard on the radio was actually good, I became fascinated with the business development of artists (now what many would refer to as branding), and felt that I wanted to be a part of the process in some way.

After growing tired of theory, composition, chorale and ear training courses, I made the decision to transition into a Business curriculum with a major in Marketing for both undergraduate and graduate school. My plan was to apply my education to the entertainment and creative industries at a later time.

Well…that time has finally come.


patrice cokley basslineAs I honed my marketing skills over the years, I began to see a tremendous increase in the amount of undiscovered talent that lacked business acumen, thus resulting in their gift remaining as an expensive hobby versus a viable career. Nowadays, record labels have no interest in you unless you’ve established your own brand and present yourself as a well packaged and marketable artist WITH a fan base that they could financially invest in. If this is what they now desire, guess who’s in charge of development and marketing…YOU!

I say this to any prospect who frown upon the thought of paying someone to assist them in their career: If you’re unwilling to financially invest in yourself, why would anyone else? This, my dear, is the type of thinking that record labels and other professional creative institutes are now adopting. As a result, I felt like there was no better time than now to launch The Bassline Group to educate and assist talented and creative individuals by combining my academic and professional experience/success with my passion that dates back to my early childhood.

To compliment my strategic business and marketing abilities, I was able to put together an amazing team of graphic & web designers, copywriters, and other strategists to offer services that assist you in developing your brand and promoting your talent to increase your brand awareness and fan base.
